PeriodHub Story

A few years ago, both of us as complete strangers, chasing our dreams in our own worlds, yet connected to each other- to womanhood, of course through Periods! firmly believed in the inherent power of a woman to be the change catalyst. All she needs is nurturing her inner strength and what best can define the inner strength of a woman…Menstruation, a sacred, beautiful, lunar female power.
Clearly, the Universe was conspiring to bring us together so that both of us, as one entity, can birth a platform like THE PERIOD HUB. There began our journey of making a woman feel special, enabling her to celebrate her femininity and feel empowered during her Periods.
At the Period Hub, we believe that every woman and her period is unique and thus we have carefully listed every single discomfort (mental and physical) a woman experiences during her cycle. Our thoughtfully curated products have been categorised as -Absorbents, Wellness, Hygiene and Nutrition which are integral for a seamless period. How can we help you
What is a Menstrual Cup?
Menstrual Cup is a Reusable Menstrual Product that is worn inside the vagina to collect your Period Blood. It is made of medical-grade silicone and can be reused up to 10 years if used and maintained appropriately.
How safe is silicone as a raw material?
Silicone is a very inert material and safe for humans to use. It is extensively used in the medical fraternity too and has almost become an indispensable material to work with. There are many products made out of silicone that are used in daily lives like teethers, baby bottle nipples, baking mold, certain types of implants that are used in cosmetic surgeries like breast implants, nasal implants, ear lobe implants. These are all made up of medical grade silicone.
Cup is an insertion device, what if it doesn’t come out or I am unable to remove it?
Anxiety is understandable, however, once you are aware of your anatomy inside and know details like how a cup functions, where it sits inside, you will also be confident of how will it work inside your body. The cup is flexible, hence once you squeeze the cup slightly to break the seal, or tilt it from left to right, your natural moisture will allow you to remove it. One thing you must remember is that the vaginal canal is like a tube which opens at the vaginal opening and connects to only the cervix inside. Now the cervix opening is as small as the opening of a straw and something like a cup really can’t get lost inside. It is a learning curve and you will be a pro in a couple of cycles.
Can I use soap to clean my cup?
Ideally, you don’t need any soap or fancy cleansers to wash your cup. Washing with plain water is sufficient. However, if you want to wash it with some soap, use a very gentle and mild soap that you would generally use to clean your intimate parts. Also ensure your cleanser is not an antibacterial one, as any residue it leaves behind can either damage the silicone (on a microscopic level, making it vulnerable to bacteria growth), or kill the good bacteria that naturally grows in the vagina which protects you from infection.
What are the various cup folds?
There are many folds in which cups can be folded, like C Fold, Punch Down, 7 Fold, DIamond Fold, Labia Fold, S- Fold. (Will demonstrate folds in video) However, you must listen to your body when inserting. Certain times women start with C fold and observe that it doesn’t open up and move to Punch Down fold. So if your cup is not unfolding properly, remove and try another fold.If you have a medical history associated with your periods like prolapsed uterus, retroverted or lower cervix. Discuss with your gynae and work on selecting a small cup with lesser capacity. However, this will lead to emptying cup more often. Or the cloth pads can also be used.
Why do I feel light headed after inserting the cup?
It’s probably because you touched/bumped the nerve that connects from your spine to the cervix (vasovagal response/reflex) nothing to worry about, but have something sugary to eat/drink and rest for a little bit. If there’s a pressure on your bladder or feel some soreness around the abdomen, try removing the cup and insert again. Walk a few steps and that feeling should go away
